Amber Tritabaugh

Amber Tritabaugh is a professional florist, a fine artist, and a practitioner of Japanese ikebana in the Sogetsu school. Amber trained at and graduated from the Atelier, and later the Koehler and Dramm Institute of Floristry, both located in Northeast Minneapolis.  She has been studying ikebana since 2020. Amber is a 7-time exhibitor with Art in Bloom, and has won several awards in the annual professional floristry competitions during the Minnesota State Fair. She is a second-year flower farmer and the owner of Haiku Flower Studio, a floral event business.

"As an art student, I only knew I wanted to make beautiful things. We worked in two dimensions to represent three. We learned to think sculpturally in composing paintings, designing set-ups and posing models, and even worked in clay. After school, I encountered ikebana. Simple materials, so beautifully and quietly designed. I gravitated to that - making beautiful things from natural objects, with thoughtful design. Still life and painting merging into botanical design. Ikebana design stretches my ideas of composition, what can be done with materials, and what the materials even are."
