Grab your traveling sketchbook bags for a mixed-media outdoor adventure that combines exploration, observation, research, detailed drawing, and writing. Join facilitator Jessica Turtle for a seasonally themed Field Illustration exploration that encourages you to incorporate nature into your regular sketching routine for both relaxation, camaraderie, and creative growth. Autumn Field Notes sessions will feature a guided fall observation hike, focusing on natural objects such as seeds, changing leaves, mushrooms, lichen, and autumn creatures. Participants will also engage with thoughtfully designed prompts and exercises to sharpen observation skills, encourage playfulness, and inspire their artistic development. This workshop is designed for all levels and offers a valuable chance for advanced artists to play and expand on their skills.  Please note that this course may require walking on uneven or rough terrain for extended periods. Restroom availability and conditions will vary by location, and participants should be prepared to be outdoors and exposed to the elements for the duration of the workshop. Should extreme weather occur, we will reschedule the session using our predetermined rain date. I will start each session at a relaxed pace, exploring trails, forests, bogs, or prairies. We may venture into the dark, so please pack accordingly. Remember to bring snacks, dress for the weather, and wear sensible shoes. Most importantly, arrive curious and open to challenges and new experiences, knowing you'll be supported by the group throughout. Starter kits available for $50.
