Aqua Media Acrylic & Collage Workshop: Experimental and Energizing Class with Award Winning Local Artist Lana Grow

The White Bear Center for the Arts is offering a unique week-long acrylic and collage workshop with instructor and award winning artist Lana Grow. This workshop will introduce new and experimental ways of painting and stretch your creative boundaries with acrylics. The focus of the workshop is abstract; combining abstract with realistic elements as an option. Emphasis will be on layering and using acrylic paint as a transparent, translucent and opaque water medium. Working on different hot press plate surface papers, the tools and techniques used will include: stencils, water media oil pastels, lifting, staining, stamps, printing, scraping, staining, collage, gold leaf, gesso, gel mediums, color mixing, basic elements of design and finishing techniques. Each day of the workshop will include several demos, handouts, one-on-one time with the instructor and time for the student to work.

Dates/Time: November 6-9, 9:30 AM-4 PM and Friday the 10th, 8:30 AM-3 PM
Age/Level: Advanced, intermediate, flexible experimental painter
Tuition: $375 WBCA Member/$395 Non-Member
Location: Tamarack Nature Center, White Bear Township

Lana L. Grow is a signature member of The American Watercolor Society, The Red River Watercolor Society, The Society of Layerists in Multi Media and The International Society of Experimental Artists. At this time, she is the only woman Minnesota painter that is a signature member of AWS. Her work has been exhibited in many local, regional and national shows, winning numerous awards. Lana's work has been previously published in several books, and can most recently be seen in Splash 8, The Society of Layerists in Multi Media and Creative Composition and Design.
