Open Canvas® 2006
A Unique Way to Experience Art

4/24/06
White Bear Lake, MN
– Join in the experience and watch as forty-five professional and established local artists simultaneously create individual works of art on Saturday, May 20th, beginning at 6 pm, at the White Bear Center for the Arts, 2228 Fourth Street in White Bear Lake. This is a unique opportunity to meet and speak with the artists as well as literally look over their shoulders as they create original masterpieces. From 6-10pm enjoy hors d’oeuvres, a wine/beer/soft drink open bar, and bid on artwork in a silent auction. The winning bidders take the completed artwork home that same evening. Proceeds from this event support White Bear Center for the Arts and a scholarship for Minneapolis College of Art & Design; a wonderful evening for a worthy cause!

This is the second year the White Bear Center for the Arts in collaboration with Good Knight productions of Milwaukee has transformed the Armory in downtown White Bear Lake into a large working studio and gallery for the Open Canvas® event. Nationally recognized local artist Mike Judy will paint at the event again this year and serve as this year’s Honorary Chair Artist. Anticipating the excitement of Open Canvas® Judy states, “ I wouldn’t miss it! The camaraderie and energy of working simultaneously with the broader artistic community is such a blast! I always end up with new clients and friendships by the end of the evening. It’s a great time plus a good way to support art.” Mike Judy also produced, directed and starred in several entertaining videos promoting the event which can be seen on the White Bear Center for the Arts website www.whitebeararts.org.

Tickets are available for $40 in advance $45 at the door. Tickets are limited and sold out last year, so order yours today by calling 651.407.0597 or email wbca@whitebeararts.org. Visit the White Bear Center for the Arts website at www.whitebeararts.org and click on “Events” to learn more about Open Canvas® 2006, for a list of participating artists, to view promotional videos made by Mike Judy, and see pictures from last year’s event.
