Join us at Tamarack Nature Center for an IRON POUR

Tamarack Nature Center
Saturday, April 22 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. • Sunday, April 23 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Join the White Bear Center for the Arts (WBCA) at Tamarack Nature Center for their second Iron Pour with Foundry Education and Fine Arts (FEFA) as they celebrate with the children of East Metro Women's Council (EMWC) the casting of a collaborative community art project in iron. EMWC provides affordable housing and services for homeless families in White Bear Lake and surrounding communities.

Recycled iron will be used to cast more than 30 tiles for this piece, the children will see their own designs transformed into permanent tiles for installation at the entrance of EMWC in a community garden, this summer. The themes of the tiles resonate with the experience of finding community, friendships, love and a home at East Metro, and reflect the message of hope into visual art.

In addition to the community art project, the WBCA is offering a series of workshops for individuals to learn how to create their own art out of iron. This work will be poured along with the EMWC pieces.

Please call the WBCA at 651.407.0597 or visit online at www.whitebeararts.org for additional information regarding classes, or to learn how you can become a sponsor for the project at EMWC.

The Iron for the Children Project is made possible, in part, by funds provided by the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council through a grant from the McKnight Foundation, and an appropriation from the Minnesota Legislature.
