White Bear Center for the Arts is sponsoring two Art Talks in March which are free and open to the public.

Heavy Metal: “Why Iron Rocks” presented by Frank Heidelberg on Thursday, March 9th from 6-8 pm at Tamarack Nature Center, 5287 Otter Lake Road, White Bear Township. From weaponry to fine art, iron has influenced the course of history in compelling ways. Frank Heildelberg (founder of Foundry Education Fine Arts) will change the way you see the world and iron objects in your daily life. Join us for an evening of fascinating history and learn how community iron pours are helping to preserve this ancient art form. Wine and cheese will be served. Vociferous Vases: “The Stories Told by the Pottery of Prehistoric Greece” presented by William P. Donovan Professor Emeritus, Classical and Art History from Macalester College on Wednesday, March 15 from 2:30-4:30pm at Tamarack Nature Center, 5287 Otter Lake Road, White Bear Township. Professor Donovan will bring actual pieces of pottery dated from c.3,500-1,000 B.C.E and discuss what can be learned about their making and their makers from these imperishable records. Coffee and cookies will be served. This event is free and open to the public, however space is limited. RSVP is requested by contacting White Bear Center for the Arts at 651-407-0597.
