PRESS RELEASE:

White Bear Arts Organization Awarded Community Arts Grant

White Bear Center for the Arts (WBCA) is one of two White Bear arts organizations awarded with a Community Arts Grant award presented by the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council (MRAC). The Community Arts grant program provides funds of up to $3,000 in project support for groups wishing to offer quality arts activities in any discipline to communities within the seven-county metropolitan area.

Funding for Metropolitan Regional Arts Council (MRAC) programs and services is provided primarily through a grant from The McKnight Foundation and an appropriation from the Minnesota Legislature. MRAC supports arts organizations and communities in Minnesota's seven-county metropolitan region involved in projects that provide opportunities to engage in the process of creating art as well as opportunities to experience the art of others.

The award will be used to help facilitate a community Iron Pour with residents of the East Metro Women's Council, featuring community workshops and resulting in the production of a community art piece. The second annual Iron Pour will be held at Tamarack Nature Center on Earth Day, April 22, 2006. This public event is sponsored by White Bear Center for the Arts, Foundry Education Fine Arts, East Metro Women’s Council and Tamarack Nature Center.

For more information about the WBCA and the Iron Pour go to www.whitebeararts.org or call the WBCA at 651-407-0597.
