“The goal of art is to participate in a creative
act that transforms us.”

Dear Friends,
I recently saw an ad that boasted “40…it’s the new 20!” (Personally that would make me 29
again…..) but it made me think about what this 40th anniversary means for the WBCA. As far
as community arts organizations go, 40 years is a significant milestone! We have a solid
foundation in this community that has nearly tripled in the last three years. Our growth
indicates that the need is great and your support and involvement is spreading our reach into
many peoples’ lives who are hungry for creativity and community. Last year the WBCA
offered over 430 art classes and served over 8,000 people through arts education and
community events. Through the collective energy of hundreds of volunteers, many area
partners, a creative board of directors and top notch instructors, we staff have amazing
resources that help to put it all together. We may be a “one-room” art center in building, but
we are a community without walls. We are trying new things, embracing new ideas, opening
our doors wider than ever and shouting, “Come on in! WBCA is YOUR community. Art IS for
everyone!” It’s because of YOU- reader of this newsletter and friend of the WBCA that we are
in great shape for our 40’s, and raring to go! So join us as we celebrate our 40th year together.
You make us the “New 20!” Come one, come all, and be a part of the arts!
