Friday, June 27: Toad Abodes
Is there an enchanted prince in your garden? Use clay and your imagination to make a one-of-a-kind home for the toads (or elves!). Finished projects will be fired and ready for pick up two weeks later.
Friday, July 11: Hammer Art
Ready to flex your muscles? We will look for nature’s colors as we walk, and then use a hammer (gently) to make remarkable natural images on paper and fabric. Watch out — it may get noisy!
Friday, July 18: Nature Sketch Walk
Open your senses! Take a sketch walk through the beauty of Tamarack Nature Center for inspiration and then create drawings and paintings of nature.
Friday, July 25: Clay Menagerie
What is your favorite Minnesota animal? Whether it has wings or fins, fur or scales: you will learn how to take clay and shape it into a critter you will be proud of!
Friday, August 1: Watercolor Visions
“
Water we doing” down at the lake? Playing with watercolor paint and making bubble art, watercolor sunsets and watercolor leaf prints.
Friday, August 8: Book-Art
You will have the world in your hands with a gorgeous book you make yourself. You will learn how to bind it by hand and decorate it to make it truly unique. Will you have a story to tell, or will the art create its own story?
Monday-Thursday, July 14-17, 9am-4pm: Forgotten Civilizations
Are you fascinated by mysteries of forgotten civilizations? Ever wonder what people ate or what games kids played, or how the first cities were built? Explore the ancient cultures of Egypt and Greece in this art-intensive camp. Like Indiana Jones, you will decipher the hieroglyphs and animal images in Egyptian tomb paintings, collect “papyrus” to make paper, and create a model
city.
Offered for students entering fifth and sixth grade. $160/participant
Monday-Thursday, August 4-7, 9am-4pm: Magical Arts
Entering fifth and sixth grade. Does magic exist? Delve into nature’s magic as you test your perceptions, extract DNA, meet a real magician, and spend the night in the nature center after stargazing and owl-watching. You will discover your own magic as you create drawings, paintings and moving sculpture inspired by nature and the night sky in this art-intensive camp. Campers will
be dismissed at noon on Thursday, August 7 after the overnight.
Offered for students entering fifth and sixth grade. $160/participant
