Color Drawing Sessions: Taming Color to fit within Drawing
Dr. Mary McNaughton
Tame the wild beast of color to enrich your drawings and not overtake them!
The use of color and how it fits within the realm of drawing will be explored. Students will be taught to see hue as a value as it fits within a search for form. When pigment is studied in a singular fashion and not incorporated into the process of drawing, it can often overtake our endeavors. After all, color is just that important! Students will revisit their childhood where they were allowed to play with drawing. Students will work with a variety of techniques such as blind contour, gradations, and color blending and be empowered to create depth with pigment. They will move on to create compositions of their own that reflect their own character. Supplies: large 18x24” drawing pad, colored pencils, colored ink pens in a few colors; brown, red, blue, yellow, pastel pencils are optional
