Making Glass Beads with a Torch (Lampworking)
Jennifer Wolcott
In Victorian England women made glass beads over a spirit lamp, called lampworking, as a cottage industry. By using very hot torches for fun, students can melt glass and bend it at will. They can make stringers and twisties, and then build
bubbles and flowers into glass beads. This is a three week class in which students keep the rented kit between classes so they can practice at home and amaze their friends and neighbors.
